Resvante - Eniva's Liquid Resveratrol!

What is the Trans-Resveratrol Discovery?
Trans-resveratrol is the secret, age defying and health promoting nutrient found within red wine. The discovery by Harvard Medical School† researcher shows that concentrated resveratrol activates human genes responsible for longevity, survival and cardiovascular health, has triggered worldwide research into this powerful health promoting substance. Resveratrol molecules have been shown to turn on the pathways that repair DNA celluar damage to slow the aging process. The important factors of resveratrol potency and concentration are key to its effect. The outstanding health benefits recently discovered have been uniquely experienced from using concentrated resveratrol. Researchers are tapping into the natural matrix whereby resveratrol, made by plants to protect themselves from stress, transfers these natural benefits to significantly support health.* Research Demonstrated Benefits of Resveratrol:

* Extends lifespan in non-vertebrates and vertebrates*
* Anti-inflammatory effects*
* Cardiovascular protective effects*
* Neurologic protective effects*
* Anti-microbial effects / phytoalexin properties* (Plants naturally produce this antibiotic agent to fight against bacteria and fungi caused by environmental stresses and severe weather conditions.)

Scientific Summary:
* Resveratrol extends the lifespan of various species, most recently demonstrated in mice fed a high calorie diet.
* In studies of lifespan and aging in vertebrates (fish and mice), other positive effects of resveratrol were also shown:
o Maintenance of nurocognitive function*
o Improved balance, sensory-motor coordination and endurance*
o Improved insulin sensitivity*
* Additional study of genes in these animals suggest resveratrol works through various mechanisms including those that alter energy metabolism and cell survival.*
* Resveratrol appears to have an effect on similar genes as caloric restriction, a model known for reducing the effects of aging.* Research data on file, Eniva USA, 2009.

Our Birthright to Good Health!

We were all given the Birthright to Good Health!

Welcome to TRUE HEALTHY LIVING NOW! This site was created to share health related information with our family and friends. We have spent an enormous amount of hours studying and researching health and fitness in order to regain our own health. After sharing what we had learned with family and friends we realized we were on the right track when we saw not only our own health improve, but those of our loved ones and friends.

Please understand, any information contained here is meant for informational purposes ONLY and not meant to be used for medical purposes. ALWAYS consult your doctor.

Our names are Darlene & Doug. I (Darlene) have battled a chronic debilitating disease for over 20 years. During this time, I saw doctor after doctor and took the drugs they prescribed, yet never really saw improvement. Actually, I was getting worse. I just knew there had to be a better way. Well, after taking things into my own hands, doing the research and changing my lifestyle, via diet, exercise and proper supplementation (via Vibe by Eniva and other Eniva Products) I’m off the pharmaceutical drugs that were prescribed for my condition. I've turned the corner on my own health and want to share what I/we have learned in the process.

Arthritis: Secret Foods Not to Eat!

_________________________________________________
This article was written by a friend of ours who cured her arthritis and wrote a book about it. If you would like to get her book or reports please contact Darlene or Doug directly at 502-363-0101
_________________________________________________
This is going to open a new world to you. You will be making some food changes and it will change your pain level. When you follow the program as I did you should get pain relief within weeks, or less.

Here is a short version of what you should and should not eat. Since everyone is different you may want to refer to my book to see exactly what it is you are eating that is causing you so much pain.

For most arthritics the things I am asking you to give up, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD are:

Salt: Just no salt.

Coffee: More than one cup is not good for you. Decaf is much, much worse and you should NOT drink anything that says decaf on it. More than 4 cups a day of coffee and the rate for heart attacks in men increases to 50%. I don't know for women but I suspect it is close to that.

Soda/Pop: No sodas, anything that says diet, sugar free, or decaffeinated or Lite.

Flour: You should not eat flour of any kind. Please give it up for at least 3 weeks and see how you feel. If you then want to add it back into your diet use the method described in the book.
Please stop eating all white flour. It s KILLING YOU. For the free report "Why white flour is an abomination - and is killing you".

Manufacturing Sickness Through The Food Supply

Have you ever considered just how much our diets have changes over the last 50 to 100 years, or how much our health is connected to the types of food we consume. With the majority of us eating on the run and looking for a quick way to produce a meal for our families, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at the modern diet. Without doing a lot of research to substantiate the exact date of introduction into the food supply, lets take a look at the approximate time frame of some of our most common food items.

If my memory serves me right, most neighborhoods started seeing an influx of McDonalds and other fast food restaurants somewhere around the mid nineteen seventies. Sure there were some McDonalds and other fast food joints before this time, but we’re talking about when this industry started to become mainstream. Early to mid seventies just about hits it right!

Depression! My Story!

I'll make this as short as possible. I was diagnosed with Depression many years ago. Instead of doctors testing my hormones, blood sugar or anything at all, they told me that my depression was genetic and that I didn't produce something (they didn't tell me what at the time) and that I'd have to take medicine for the rest of my life. I was after all "like a diabetic who needs insulin".

That is when the real problems began.

I recall feeling paranoid and crying even more after taking antidepressants than I did before taking them. What did that prove? Hummm that I needed them of course.

Years later after being on antidepressants for so long I reeked of chemicals, and had gained 35 or 40 pounds. Now that I could not sleep anymore nor relax, or feel anything and had my left retina blow out and had holes in my right retina due to the amount of chemicals I had ingested over a decade and a half, I finally found out the answer to WHY I was depressed in the 1st place.

It took watching a health program on Family Net. A show called "Your Health". At the time the host was Doug Kaufmann.

Doug K. spoke about how long term use of antibiotics can cause IBS, Allergies, and Depression. He gave these illnesses in just that order, and that is exactly my history. Exactly in that order. You see, I had taken antibiotics for acne during my teens and twenties. Lots of them! At 21 or so I was diagnosed with IBS, at 24 or so Allergies, and then at 28 I was diagnosed with Depression.

I'm not sure, but I do believe that I had a combo of things happening to me. I had always had difficult menses and expect that Ive always had hormonal issues, then add the antibiotics which cause yeast overgrowth, and pour toxic chemicals into the blood steam that can affect the brain along with the nutritional deficiency they cause because of the altered bowel flora and I was a mess. Add antidepressant drugs to the mix which cause more hormonal disruptions, and deplete or interfere with the ability to absorb the nutrients from the foods I ate and well you get the picture.

So my advice to anyone suffering from depression is to go to a naturopath who will get to the root cause of your health issues and not just cover them up with drugs.

Coming off antidepressant drugs was one of the most difficult things I've ever done in my life. And all the while doing it, the doctors were telling me that I needed them and had to take them for the rest of my life. But my life was just about over. It was get off of them or die! So I did it without the help of a doctor. Slowly cutting the pills down over a 6 month period and even that was probably to fast.

I've been off antidepressants for 6 years now.

At the 2 year mark I thought I'd surely not make it due to the sleeplessness, pain, electric shocks, jitters and other issues I had from taking antidepressants long term. That is when I found Vibe by Eniva. I credit it with saving my life. It gave me back the nutrients that had been depleted from my body and it allowed me to carry on and to heal. In addition, had I addressed my hormonal issues at the 2 year mark I believe I could have saved myself a lot of healing time.

If you would like to discuss antidepressants, depression, my story or anything related, just give me (Darlene) a call at 502-363-0101. I be glad to talk to you!

Trans fats/Hydrogenated Oil

Trans fats are created artificially through a procedure called hydrogenation. This method begins by heating vegetable oils under a high pressure process while hydrogen gas is added. This continues until the oil becomes a stiffer product known as a partially-hydrogenated oil or trans fat. It was this development in the early 20th century, that gave us margarine and shortening. The use of partially-hydrogenated oil has allowed food manufacturers to provide products (at much less the cost) that are more palatable and have a longer shelf life.

Although used in the modern diet for a hundred years, today, many experts believe that trans fats have one of the worst impacts on our health. This un-natural fat can not be broken down by the body because it is not recognized as food. Trans fats have a major impact on heart health by raising bad cholesterol, lowering good cholesterol, clogging the arteries, and accelerating coronary heart disease.

The World Health Organization recognized the dangers of trans fats decades ago, issuing a warning against its use. Recently, due to consumer outcries, the FDA has taken notice. Beginning in 2006 it is now mandatory that all food labels show the amount of trans fats on all products. To date only Denmark has banned processed trans fats from production.

Cookies, candies, cakes, pastries, doughnuts, fried foods, French fries, crackers, chip snacks, corn snacks, margarine, dips, dressings, frozen food products, microwave popcorn, etc. all contain trans fats. Some food manufactures are beginning to change to healthier fats, but until man-made trans fats have been completely eliminated from the food supply, it’s advisable to read labels to avoid them.

The Importance of Exercise!

Has anyone ever told you how important exercise really is? If not,
let me be the first. Regular exercise is absolutely imperative for good health!

A sedentary lifestyle leads to disease and a sure decline in our health. Our bodies were created to be resilient. We’re meant to be strong and active. As we exercise and put a greater demand on our body it will rebuild a little stronger each time to compensate for that new greater demand.

1. The heart and cardiovascular system become stronger.
2. Our metabolism becomes balanced and burns calories and unused
fat for energy.
3. Our glands will release the proper hormones for growth and repair,
helping to keep our hormonal system balanced.
4. Through sweat and work the lymphatic system will rid the body of
toxins.
5. Blood pressure and cholesterol levels will become easier to keep in
check.
6. The risk of diabetes will be easier to keep at bay.
7. It will help to ward off mental decline as we age and protect against
forms of dementia and Alzheimers.

Lisa's Cancer Story!

In 2003, my sister was diagnosed with endometrium cancer. Her doctors told her that this cancer would possibly kill her!

Thankfully, several months prior to the diagnoses, we had suggested that she begin to watch "Your Health" on Family Net. Because of this she had changed her eating habits, was drinking plenty of clean water, and had taken sugar out of her diet.

She had the surgery to remove a large tumor (which was in her uterus and had attached itself to her tail bone) and a cluster of tumors on one of her ovaries. The removal of a lymph node showed possible cancer in other parts of her body.

Her doctors stressed to her the need for chemo and radiation. Telling her again "This cancer will kill you!"

After the surgery, it was time for the family to get involved. Of course we kept watching "Your Health" as we had done for the last several years and relaying as much information as possible.

The Power of Eating Breakfast!

Eating breakfast is probably something that most of us take for granted. We really didn’t understand the importance of breakfast either, until we began to educate ourselves on the subject.

Skipping breakfast is really detrimental to our health in many ways. We all know that it’s not healthy to go all day without eating. But how important is it really? Let’s look at it this way.

When we eat dinner…lets say at about 6 or 7 pm, then sleep all night, wake up, skip breakfast, only to eat lunch around noon…we’ve just managed to go about 16 hours with nothing to eat (that’s not good).
That’s almost like going all day without eating.

Magnesium Essential for Life!

Magnesium is an essential mineral (essential for life) that every cell in the body needs. It keeps the nervous system healthy, muscles strong, and forms healthy bones and teeth. It lovers blood pressure and helps protect against cardiovascular disease. However, during our research we learned that up to 80% of Americans are magnesium deficient. Did you hear that! Lets say it again! Eighty percent of American’s are deficient in Magnesium…That’s just one mineral in the diet, but a very important one!

So why is magnesium so helpful to the body? It’s possible that it could be that magnesium helps the body's cells fend off stress. But magnesium also activates enzymes, and contributes to energy production. If that wasn’t enough, it also helps regulate calcium levels as well as zinc, copper, potassium, vitamin D, and other significant nutrients.

76 Ways Sugar can ruin your Health!

Sugar has become a common food item in the diet over the last century. It is estimated that the average person consumes 140 to 170 lbs of sugar a year. I know that sounds outlandish but according to estimates done by the Department of Agriculture, it’s true.

Sugar in some form is in almost everything. If you doubt it, check your food labels. Look for corn, maple, rice, or cane syrup, honey, fruit juice concentrates and ingredients like dextrose, fructose, lactose, sucrose, sucralose, maltose or glucose etc.

Our diets have shifted dramatically over the last one hundred years or so. We didn’t always eat the amount of refined sugar, processed grains and simple carbohydrates, (which turn to sugar) that we do today. We also did not have some of the foods that we do today. Just consider how many people drink at least one or more sodas a day. Just one can of soda contains 10 to 12 teaspoons of sugar. That’s a lot of sugar and sugar is an immune suppressor.

Most of us do not eat a healthy diet!

Most of us do not eat a healthy diet (which of course we should all try to do). Even if we do eat a healthy diet, because of our depleted soil it takes many times the amount of fruits and vegetables it once did to sustain our health, never mind regain our health.

Even the AMA states that everyone should supplement, but often that is confusing to the average consumer. Pills & capsules generally have binders, fillers, and glues, and are often synthetic. They are also only minimally absorbed. For the solution, we must look to liquid, and look to nature.

During our health journey we've taken thousands of dollars worth of various supplements over the years. As we educated ourselves, we went from pills, to capsules, to collodials, and powdered whole food supplements. We now know we've found the best supplement to supply a full spectrum of vitamins and minerals. That product is Vibe!

Vibe is a whole food, great tasting liquid supplement that packs 11,000 milligrams of nutrition in one oz. It has the highest antioxidant rating of any liquid tested at Brunswick Laboratory and carries the Brunswick seal to prove it. It is even listed in the Physicians Desk Reference for dietary supplements and herbs.

Vibe was created using the latest in technology which breaks down the particle size of the nutrients so small that they bypass digestion and our drawn into the cells within seconds.

Not only does Vibe contains the EGCG equivelent of 5 cups of Green Tea, it is also created in an Aloe Vera base and has 4 unique formulas to address all our health needs.

  1. Anti-aging Formula
  2. Cellular Health Formula
  3. Heart Formula
  4. Immune Enhancing Formula.

Secrets to a Restful Nights Sleep

Just how many of us are getting the recommended 6-8 hours of sleep? If you fall asleep, can you stay asleep throughout the night? With the amount of prescription sleep aids sold in this country it appears that many of us are having difficulty meeting our sleep requirements.

Getting approximately 8 hours of sleep is crucial for a healthy immune system and a must to regulate our hormones. Poor sleep habits increase accidents, affect memory, eating habits and the ability to deal with stress. Lack of sleep also contributes to symptoms of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and accelerates aging.

Are you one of the 82 million who experience these common symptoms:
  • Wake up feeling un-refreshed
  • Have difficulty falling asleep
  • Wake up early and are not able to get back to sleep
  • Waking frequently during the night

Do Diet Sodas Make You Fat?

Here is a great article for you to enjoy, courtesy of my friend Jon Benson at Fit Over 40.

I stumbled across this study today and, to be honest, the results did not surprise me. As a "diet sodaholic", something I still struggle with from time to time, I can testify that diet sodas will make you fat.

This study does not cover the metabolic reasons why, so let me give you just a few. First, the body is not easily fooled. Artificial "anything", especially sweeteners, can trigger the exact hormonal mechanisms as the real deal. In this case, the hormone insulin is often spiked by aspartame and Splenda. This leads to a greater amount of fat being stored.

That's not all. The resulting biochemical reactions stimulates appetite. Just as any spike in insulin (or in adrenaline from caffeine) can do, these reactions will cause you to desire more food. They also blunt the appetite mechanisms that signal the brain that you are full. In short, you eat more food than you normally would.

I have seen this in myself first-hand and I discuss it in detail in my book. No doubt about it -- if you want to get leaner, can the sodas. Diet, non-diet, and anything in-between. Water is your best bet, just as this study concludes.

FROM: San Antonio Express-News

The prevalence of obesity has reached epidemic proportions and many Americans are making efforts to side-step extra calories. They are turning to diet soft drinks -- Diet Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Sprite -- as their beverage of choice.

But is this a wise health choice?

Perhaps not, for according to a study by researchers at the University of Texas San Antonio, middle-aged adults who drink diet soft drinks may be drastically increasing their risks of gaining weight later on.

Diet Soda Discovery
The study monitored the weight and soda-drinking habits of more than 600 normal-weight patients aged 25-64. When researchers followed up on the patients some eight years later, they discovered:

- - Participants were 65 percent more likely to be overweight if they consumed one diet soda a day compared to if they drank none.

- - Two or more low- or no-calorie soft drinks raised the odds of becoming obese or overweight even higher.

-- Those who drank diet soda had a greater chance of becoming overweight than participants who drank regular soda.

The solution? Simply drink more water!

Benefits of Tea- More Than A Drink

Tea can do a lot more than taste good. Green, black, and oolong teas contain antioxidants called polyphenols which research has shown to help in preventing several forms of cancer, possible reduction in heart attack and stroke, and aides in overall health and well-being. Herbal teas do not usually carry the same polyphenols, but do contain other beneficial nutrients and antioxidants that can help in a variety of ways. Seems for every ailment there's an herb, and it all boils down to a good cup of tea.

Here is a few other ways to use specific herbal teas to our benefit. Enjoy!
  • Ginger tea - promotes enzymes that promotes digestion and helps with nausea and upset stomachs.
  • Thyme - is a natural antihistamine and helps fight infections. Breathe over a warm cup to help clear your sinuses or use in hot bath.
  • Rosehips - is rich in vitamin K, bioflavanoids, and citrics. Age defiance at it's best!

  • Shiny horsetail grass - richest in silica, an element in tissue repair. Sipping on this tea is great for your hair, nails, and skin.

  • Rosemary tea - a great hair rinse that promotes hair growth a gentle removing of hair build up.

  • Oatstraw tea - great for weight loss due to it's high fiber content and richness in vitamins A,D, B1, and B2.

  • Chicory and dandelion tea - natural appetite suppressants.

  • Chamomile - helps you sleep and relax.

  • Apple peels - brew some in with your regular tea. much of the apples nutrition value lies in the peel.

  • Red clover - in large amounts emulates female hormone which may help ease menopause symptoms.

  • Lemongrass - mild diuretic.

  • Sassafras - helps prevent bronchitis.

  • Birch tea - helps with rheumatism and headaches.

Improve Your Eating Habits

1. Water. If you’re thirsty you’re already dehydrated. The majority of us don’t tend to drink enough during the day. If you drink a lot of tea and coffee to keep you going then these have a diuretic effect so you should be drinking water to compensate.

Have a glass of water first thing in the morning and last thing at night – your body loses a lot of water while you’re asleep – not only if it’s warm and you sweat a lot but just going 8 hours (if you’re so lucky) without food or drink it’s going to be dehydrated.

Dehydration can also be mistaken for hunger – have a glass of water first before reaching for a snack or eating a meal.

2. Fruit & Veg. Fruit and vegetables provide you with vitamins, minerals and fibre to help keep your body healthy. Eat a piece of fruit or drink fresh juice for breakfast. Fresh berries on muesli or porridge or cereal. Have fruit as a snack during the day and salad and vegetables with your main meals.

If you can, buy organic and wash fruit and vegetables before eating unless your peeling them. Pesticide residues are more likely to remain on the skin and fruits such as apples are often treated in storage.

Detox Diet: Juice Fasting Recipes

Juice fasting is gaining popularity as a great way to detoxify. Many people are interested in getting toxins out of their system so they can live a healthier life. When toxins accumulate in the body, they feel sluggish and also have a poor immune system. Juice fasting, as a cleansing method, can help to people to achieve better health and more energy. It is quite easy to do as fruits are readily obtainable and all that is required additionally is a juicer.

For a beginner to juice fasting, it is important to start out slow and to try it out for one day. By juice fasting, you are limiting your intake to juices only. Fruit juice is high in sugar, so if you are a diabetic or otherwise in need of monitoring your sugar intake you should be cautious of trying a juice fast with fruit juices. Anyone just starting out with fasting should always speak with their doctor first. Also, do not juice fast for prolonged periods like more than 3 days, not unless your doctor agrees that it is safe for you to do so.

The following are sample recipes that can help give you an idea of combinations of fruits and vegetables to use together:

Recipe 1: Vegetable Juice Combo
2 Swiss chard leaves
1/2 beetroot
2 or 3 sprigs of watercress
3 carrots
1 celery stalk
Wash with filtered or distilled water, cut and put in juicer.

Recipe 2: Carrot-Apple Juice
2-3 Green Apples
1 carrot
Fresh basil leaves
Wash with filtered or distilled water, cut and put in juicer.

Recipe 3: Carrot-Vegetable Juice
A handful of dandelion leaves
1 kale leaf
4 carrots
Fresh mint, basil or coriander leaves
Wash with filtered or distilled water, cut and put in juicer.

Recipe 4: Peach Juice
2 or 3 peaches
Wash with filtered or distilled water, cut and put in juicer.

There are many different types of juice fasts. Some diets call for fruit juices while others used less sugary vegetable juices. You can always come up with your own unique combination of fruit and vegetable juice diet recipes.

What Really Creates Health And Wellbeing?

Most of us know that eating well and exercising is important for good health. Yet often we hear about people100 years old and older that are still vital and have not eaten perfectly or exercised much. What is the secret of their good health?

Research indicates that a major factor in good health – more important than genes, food, or exercise – is how we handle stress.

Our bodies are equipped with a “fight or flight” mechanism that enables us to mobilize our strength when necessary. This mechanism allows us to fight or flee from real and present danger. However, this mechanism is also activated when we BELIEVE there is danger, even when no actual survival danger exists.

For example, it is appropriate for the fight or flight mechanism to activate if you are being physically attacked. When the stress response is activated, blood is taken from our brain and organs and put into our arms and legs to enable us to fight or flee. Our immune system shuts down to give us more energy to physically protect ourselves and ensure our survival in the moment. Once the danger is over and we have discharged the stress through fighting or running, our bodies go back to normal and blood again flows to our brain and organs.

However, what if your thoughts are creating the stress? What if you are imagining being attacked, or being rejected, or losing money, or losing your job, or losing a loved one? In this case, there is no actual real and present danger occurring in the moment. Yet the body does not know the difference between something that is really happening and something that you are thinking about. The body goes into the stress response the moment you think scary thoughts. But instead of being able to fight or flee, you are stuck with the anxiety caused by your thoughts. The blood is in your arms and legs with no way to be released. You can’t think very well due to as lack of blood in your brain, your organs are being robbed of necessary nutrients, and your immune system is not functioning properly. Strenuous exercise may release the stress response, but if you keep thinking the scary thoughts, it will just come right back.

Perhaps the most important thing you can do for your health and wellbeing is to become conscious of your thoughts that create stress and become adept at changing your thoughts. People who have learned how to let challenging things roll off their back generally have good health. People who allow the challenges of life to constantly stress them out often have health problems, even when they eat well and get exercise.

Our minds have been programmed from infancy with many untrue thoughts – many false beliefs. It is when we think these untrue thoughts that we cause ourselves anxiety and our bodies go into the stress response. However, we all have a “Wise Self” that knows truth from lies. When we move “out of our minds” and into our knowing, we will stop thinking the thoughts that cause anxiety and instead operate from the truth of our knowing.

Thoughts that are untrue cause anxiety. The truth brings peace. If you have a thought that you cannot survive being rejected or being alone, you will feel anxious. However, while this might have been true as a child, it is not true as an adult. Your anxious feeling is letting you know that your thought is untrue. If you then think – from your Wise Self rather than from your programmed mind: “I can handle rejection. I’ve been rejected many times and I have not died. I’ve been alone many times and I have not died,” your body will release the anxiety and you will feel peaceful. Your peaceful feeling is telling you that you are now thinking the truth.

The very best thing you can do for your health and wellbeing is to become aware of the thoughts from your programmed mind that create anxiety, and practice thinking the truth from your Wise Self that creates inner peace.

Dark Side Of Soy Bean

Infants are most vulnerable to damage from soy phytoestrogens Soy has been promoted as a miracle food that can prevent heart disease, fight cancer, and build strong bodies. Sales were in the $4 BILLIONS in 2004.

Respected scientists warn that its benefits should be weighed against proven risks. Even researchers working for the soy industry admit that the “marketing is way ahead of the science.”

Yet the FDA approved a health claim for the soy and heart disease in 1999. I disregarded warnings from independent and government scientist and ignored hundreds of peer-reviewed studies link soy to malnutrition, digestive distress, thyroid disorders, allergies, ADD/ADHD, reproductive problems, infertility, cognitive decline, cancer, and heart disease.

The FDA ruling proved such a financial boon that sales increased 200% between 2000 and 2004. The truth is now starting to appear. Late July, The Israeli Health Ministry warned that children under 16 should eat soy foods no more that once per day and a maximum of 3 times a week, that babies never receive soy formula, and that adults exercise caution when consuming soy products...

Cholesterol Does Not Cause Heart Disease!

Cholesterol is an essential building block of every cell in the body, required for all metabolic processes. It is particularly important in the production of nerve tissue, bile and certain hormones. On average, our body produces about half of a gram to one gram of cholesterol per day, depending on how much of it the body needs at the time. By and large, our body is able to produce 400 times more cholesterol per day than what we would obtain from eating 3,5 ounces (100 grams) of butter. The main cholesterol producers are the liver and the small intestine, in that order. Normally, they are able to release cholesterol directly into the blood stream, where it is instantly tied to blood proteins. These proteins, which are called lipoproteins, are in charge of transporting the cholesterol to its numerous destinations. There are three main types of lipoproteins in charge of transporting cholesterol: Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL), and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL).

In comparison to HDL, which has been privileged with the name ‘good’ cholesterol, LDL and VLDL are relatively large cholesterol molecules; in fact, they are the richest in cholesterol. There is good reason for their large size. Unlike their smaller cousin, which easily passes through blood vessel walls, the LDL and VLDL versions of cholesterol are meant to take a different pathway; they leave the blood stream in the liver.

US Senate Document 264 from the 74th Congress in 1936 Second Session

"Our physical well-being is more directly dependent upon minerals we take into our systems than upon calories or vitamins, or upon precise proportions of starch, protein or carbohydrates we consume."

" Do you know that most of us today are suffering from certain dangerous diet deficiencies which cannot be remedied until depleted soils from which our foods come are brought into proper mineral balance?"

"The alarming fact is that foods (fruits and vegetables and grains) now being raised on millions of acres of land that no longer contains enough of certain needed minerals, are starving us--no matter how much of them we eat! No man of today can eat enough fruits and vegetables to supply his system with the minerals he requires for perfect health because his stomach isn't big enough to hold them."

"The truth is that our foods vary enormously in value, and some of them aren't worth eating as food...Our physical well-being is more directly dependent upon the minerals we take into our systems than upon calories or vitamins or upon the precise proportions of starch, protein or carbohydrates we consume."

"This talk about minerals is novel and quite startling. In fact, a realization of the importance of minerals in food is so new that the text books on nutritional dietetics contain very little about it. Nevertheless, it is something that concerns all of us, and the further we delve into it the more startling it becomes."

Reducing Stress for a Healthy Life!

Feeling Stressed? Overworked? We all are these days, it seems. With many of us working two jobs, raising kids and taking care of elderly family members it often feels overwhelming. This constant stressed state can affect our sleep, contribute to anxiety, depression, and put us at risk for a heart attack, or stroke. So maybe it’s time we tried some simple things to regain our health and rebalance our lives. We owe it to ourselves and our loved one to consider these simple stress reducing techniques.

  • Daily Exercise: Did you know that exercising not only reduces stress but actually improves your mental and emotional well being. It doesn’t take a great deal of time either. Even 10 minutes of moderate exercise a day can improve your mood and decrease fatigue. For additional benefits, work towards the recommended 30 to 60 minutes a day and you will improve your sleep, and cut the risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
  • Proper Sleep: Getting as much as 8 hours of sleep a night allows your body to deal with stress and rejuvenate. Sleep deprivation has a profound impact on the bodies response to stress. Additionally, the sleep you get from 10 PM to 12 PM is twice as beneficial as those hours after midnight. The body also has important work to do during the hours of 10 PM until 2 AM like dumping toxins and recharging the adrenals.
  • Eat healthy: The body needs proper nutrition to function at peak performance. This means eating wholesome balanced and nutritious meals, not fast food. Eat often throughout the day to manage blood sugar and ward off the dizziness and anxiety which can precipitate a drop in blood sugar. Skipping meals only compounds the stress response.
  • Proper Supplementation: Even those who eat a healthy diet find it difficult to get enough vital nutrition to promote or sustain health. Getting additional nourishment by taking a food source vitamin/mineral supplement is key to having a strong, vibrant, healthy life.
  • Stimulates: Avoid stimulates like caffeine, sugar and even sugar substitutes (like Aspartame) and MSG. These substances offer no nutritional value but can further deplete and stress the body. The body runs on real nutrition. You will find no help using these substances.
  • Relaxation: We live in a time of tremendous rate of acceleration. We often feel that we must be doing something constantly to be of value. This is a flawed concept and one that will eventually cause you to crash. So slow down, find time for private reflection, meditation and prayer. Unplug and unwind. What is stressing you today will make no difference to anyone a hundred years from now. So be gentle with yourself.

Garlic is Mother Natures Pungent Cure-All-The Odoriferous Herb

I don't know about you, but one of my very favorite aromas is garlic wafting through a kitchen, especially when it's in a great tomato sauce or stir fried with some vegetables. Whether it's in a pan with olive oil or roasting in the oven, the smell of garlic sets my appetite on overdrive! While not everyone shares my predilection for this odoriferous herb, there can be no denying that its appeal extends far beyond its smell or taste. Time and again, garlic has come through as one of the most versatile healing herbs known to humans.

The value of garlic (Allium sativum) has been recognized since ancient Egypt, when slaves went on strike to increase their garlic rations. In the 1950s, the great Albert Schweitzer, M.D., used garlic in his African clinic to treat dysentery, typhus and cholera. During the Second World War, garlic was used as a disinfectant for wounds and as protection against gangrene in injured soldiers. Now, research is showing that it protects against two of the most dreaded diseases of our time: heart disease and cancer.

Some have even argued that since our ancestors ate a diet rich in a variety of plants and herbs now missing in modern diets, we should consider phytonutrient-rich plants such as garlic to be essential nutrients!

I think this is a great idea, and you can easily incorporate into your own personal diet plan just by taking aged garlic supplements.

Garlic Basics:
Garlic is a member of the lily family. Its genus (Allium) also includes onions. When a clove of garlic is crushed or chewed, an odorless sulfur-containing compound, alliin, is transformed to allicin, which gives garlic its characteristic odor. Allicin is the element of garlic that has been most intensively studied and which appears to have the most medicinal value. Allicin naturally breaks down to other compounds, including daily sulfide and ajoene, which are thought to have unique healing effects on the body.

The Detrimental Effects of SUGAR!

Studies show that here in the United States we consume somewhere between 140 to 170 lbs. of sugar per person each year. We know that sounds outlandish but according to estimates done by the Department of Agriculture it’s true. It’s not only that extra teaspoon of sugar in our coffee, but the amount of sweets, candy, cake, cookies, juices, soft drinks and all the added sugars in processed foods. We could list over a hundred health problems from consuming sugar, but we won’t bore you. (Read… Lick the Sugar Habit … by Dr. Nancy Appleton, for this list) We’ll just hit a few of the high points.

The Immune System:

First and foremost, the consumption of refined sugar suppresses our immune system. Just one serving of sugar from a soft drink, candy bar, cake, cookie, ice cream, etc. can suppress our immune system for several hours. This leaves us vulnerable to many unwanted invaders, like viruses, bacteria, and yeast/fungi. The yeast issue alone is a problem because once yeast has the upper hand, sugar becomes its fuel and yeast proliferates.

So, you see, when eating sugar day after day, week after week, year after year. The immune system is...that’s right…IN TROUBLE!

Refined sugar is also lacking the minerals needed for assimilation in our bodies. So eating sugar will cause the body to deplete its own store of minerals in order to process it. This will lead to other deficiencies and may cause chronic illness.

Stevia, The Perfect Sweetener, Whoops supplement!

We are all aware that sugar is not our friend. Sugar increases insulin levels and may lead to a myriad of diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, inflammation, premature aging and so on.

Artificial sweeteners such as Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal) and Splenda come with their own set of debilitating and damaging effects. These chemical substitutes are not the answer for good health or for caloric restriction. Aspartame for example has been linked to brain cancer, emotional disorders, seizures, and birth defects. More than 75% of all non-drug complaints to the FDA are about Aspartame. These side effects are but a small sampling of the 100’s of adverse reactions caused by Aspartame.

Animal research has linked Splenda (succulous) with enlarged liver and kidneys, shrunken thymus glands, reduced growth rate and aborted pregnancies. Available only since 1999, the reports of adverse effects on humans is beginning to evolve, but understand that people having adverse reactions may not make the connection.

Reducing or quitting sugar altogether is beneficial to good health. Yet, we all know how very hard this is to do. In our house, we have consciously reduced sugar to almost nothing. We do however, need a bit of sweetener on occasion, for example to sweeten lemon aid, ice tea, coffee, whole grain cereal, oatmeal etc. We therefore recommend choosing Stevia over sugar or artificial sweeteners.

What is Stevia?
